Georgia House Bills

House Bill 325 (HB 325)

Pre-approval of contributions by the commissioner shall be based solely on the availability of tax credits.

'Eligible student' is a student who is a Georgia resident enrolled in a Georgia secondary or primary public school or eligible to enroll in a qualified first grade, kindergarten program, or pre-kindergarten program.

'Qualified school or program' means a nonpublic pre-kindergarten program, primary school, or secondary school that: Is accredited or in the process of becoming accredited, and is located in this state, adheres to the provisions of the federal Civil Rights Act of 25 1964, and satisfies the requirements prescribed by law for private schools in Georgia.

House Bill 1133 (HB 1133)

Education; student scholarship organizations (SSO); provisions

HB 1133 provides income tax credits to taxpayers that provide funds to “student scholarship organizations,” which are defined as 501(c) (3) organizations that allocate 90% of annual revenue for scholarships or tuition grants to allow students to attend private schools and provide educational scholarships or tuition grants to students without limiting availability to only students of one school.
